First State Bank Details
- Location: Martin, Tennessee
- Project Type:
- Completion Date: 2010
First State Bank hired TLM to create a building design that would allow them to offer their many services to their clients all under one roof. This facility is 23,683 square feet and holds Insurance, Marketing, Finance, and Brokerage as well as traditional banking. Located on the second floor of the building is a community room that can be rented out by the community for various events. A full catering kitchen that doubles as employee break room space is located adjacent to the community room. A security system that allows keyed nighttime access to the community room only was designed to keep the banking area under lockdown afterhours.
nnSustainability is very important to TLM and to First State Bank. This building site featured a rain garden, watered by underground piping fed by pervious paving in the parking lot. Automatic lighting systems were utilized so that spaces were only lit when in use. White roofs were also used over the flat areas to XXXX. Sustainable interior materials were also used. Carpet is the main floor covering used throughout the space. The chosen carpet is a mixture of Kensington and Greenwich, both by Lees Carpets, which feature a minimum of 20% post consumer recycled content and the Duracolor treatment that protects Indoor Air Quality by eliminating the need for VOC emitting harsh detergents. No VOC adhesives were used for the installation of the carpet.
nnThe overall design for this bank is very traditional. Large white columns create the entryway and a laser etched granite logo greets you as you enter the large, yet welcoming, lobby. Warm colors and fabrics were used throughout the space to create a feeling of comfort and to make their customers feel at home in their bank. Traditional red brick with white paned windows make this look more like a grand home than a banking facility.
