Hardin County Correctional Facility is a medium security facility that houses the Sheriff’s department, courtrooms, judge’s chambers and detention areas. This particular facility has 160 beds and a 24 person holding cell capacity. Separated male and female pods with their own outdoor exercise yards are monitored by a control tower with 24 hour manned surveillance. Secured access allowing inmate transport directly from the jail to courtrooms provides increased security for both the public and law enforcement attending court hearings. Visitation areas are provided with a separate entrance from the courtroom and sheriff’s department and feature both face to face and video visitation rooms. A staff nurse and clinical areas are located within the jail as well as Tuberculosis isolation cells. A specific entrance/exit area for the work release program was designed on the back of the facility for inmates to shower and be searched prior to re-entering the facility.
